Tamil Nadu High Court issued orders to Anna University to release the rank list of Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu based on the percentage of pass in the examinations. This order is issued based on the court petitions of few students and parents.
According to the statistics, six lacs to eight lacs students are appearing in XII standard common examinations. In the passing candidates around two lacs and fifty thousand, candidates are appearing for Engineering Admissions through Single Window System in Anna University. Most of the students who are applying obviously from rural background of Government of Tamil Nadu.
At this juncture, it is noted most of the Engineering colleges are not processing the fulfilled conditions and criteria of All India Council of Technical Education, states the write petitions.
But, incidentally almost all the Engineering Colleges are claiming, as if they are in the top position. They advertise their self explained superiority in the media is as well. This provides a biased approach to the ignorant students and parents. They are in dilemmatic conditions in choosing the institutions. The other confusion is that there are many engineering colleges with identical names, and invariably, few colleges process the names of the so called popular Engineering colleges.
So, the Judges stated in their judgement, after hearing the cases, and dictated Anna University to declare the rank list of the Departments of Anna University, its member colleges, Government Engineering colleges Government Aided Institutions and self financed Private Institution in the web site of Anna University with in a period of two weeks. In the same way, Anna University should release the names of the institutions with identical names along with the code numbers allotted by Anna University. It is clear; the AICTE has got powers to take actions against the colleges with identical names.
The order further says that Anna University and AICTE should inspect periodically about all the facilities and infrastructure of the institutions then and these.
