In fact there are no chances for new Engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. But under this situation, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved the opening 3 new polytechnic.
Institutions in Tamil Nadu The three institutions is offer diploma courses in Engineering, branches. According to the Chairman of AICTE, Prof S.S. Mantha, AICTE has received 463 applications to open polytechnic colleges and out of these 36 were from Tamil Nadu . AICTE have cleared 39 application allocating 300 seats each and in total 11700 seats.
According to the former union public service commission chairman and former vice chancellor of Anna University. Prof E. Balagurusamy it seem the diploma holders are getting jobs easily in small and medium sized institutions. He also added, the poly technical diploma holders have better skills when compared to Engineering graduates.
