Bhubaneswar: Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today donated tape recorders to blind students while felicitating them for their success in the high school examination.
The seven blind students, including a girl, from tribal dominated Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Koraput districts, met the chief minister at his office here.
The seven students had scored first division in the examination not withstanding their disabilities, Patnaik said after presenting them with tape recorders and flower.
During conversation, Patnaik asked the students about their names, schools and food habits. "What will you like to eat in launch?Patnaik asked them.
Accordingly, the state owned Pantha Niwas was asked to prepare food for the children, sources said adding that the chief minister also thanked the teachers of the schools.
As the students had emerged as role models for many others including those physically fit, Patnaik said: "Physical disabilities have not affected their education. The taperecorder will help the students in their studies", Patnaik said.
