There are 3 categories of schools in Tamil Nadu which includes Government schools, Govt Aided schools and self financed private schools, and there are 56 lacks of schools. Around 5 ½ lacks of teachers are working in these schools. The administrator of these schools and teacher are done by the Department of Education which consist of various Directors . Like Govt. schools and Govt aided schools are managed by the Directorate of school education, Matriculation schools are managed by the Directorate of Matriculation schools.

Primary schools and middle schools are controlled by Assistant Elementary Education officers. There are 67 Educators districts in state of Tamil Nadu and these are managed by District Educational Officers (DEO). All the schools in a district are under the control of Chief Educational Officers (CEO).

The posts Assistant Educational officers, and District Educational officers are filled, besides by promotion polices also done by Director Appointment.

The examinations for Assistant Educational officers are conducted by Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) and that of chief Educational officers are conducted by Tamil Nadu Public service commission (TNPSC). The minimum Eligibility criteria for AEEO is UG with B.Ed., and for DEO, PG with B.Ed.,

In the case of D.E.O exams, change in the system is made recently. The flow of examinations are 1) preliminary Examination.

2) Main Examination and 3) Interview.

In the preliminary Examinations the examination consists of 150 questions in General Knowledge, and in Aptitude & Mental Ability there will be 50 questions, that is, in total 200 questions. This multiple choice type question paper carrier 300 marks.

The qualified candidates in this Preliminary Examinations have to face the main Examination Main Examination consists of 3 papers. In the subjects like Tamil, English, Mathematics and Science. The two papers examine General Knowledge and the third paper. Examine the subjects. Each paper carrier 300 marks and these papers put together has 900 marks. 20 marks is allotted for personal interview. For general candidates the minimum age criteria is 30 seats are allotted for. the teachers of Govt Aided.

High school and the teachers of Higher Secondary schools in the personal Interview to become eligible to this reservation, the candidates should have 12 years experience and within the age limit of 40.

According to the TNSPC notification, there are 11 vacancies for the Direct positions of DEO. The each vacancy is there for the subjects. Tamil, English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, History and Geography. The other two vacancies, one is there for physics, chemistry for Govt Aided teachers.
