SCOPUS is the largest abstract and citation data base of peer reviewed literature analysed the details and number of research papers by education Institutions in the last 5 years.

According to this, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore is the first in India with 9433 research papers. IIT Madras stands next with 6049 paper.

State universities in Tamil Nadu also did well in this case. Anna University has published 5926 papers and Annamalai University 3358 papers and then 2266 papers by University of Madras. Prof Baskar Ramamurthy, the IIT-M Director says, that the number of research publications has gone up appreciably. With the increase in recruitment of faculty and admission of research scholars.
