Chennai: A variety of skills of engineering students will be on display at the five-day technical extravaganza of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) holding the four-day annual 'Shaastra'09' from September 30.
Among the focus areas would be sutainability, with Sutainability of Shaastra (SOS) showcasing projects centering around sustainability, including an inter-hostel competition to 'offset the extra usage of electricity' during the event, M Govardhan, Dean of Students, IIT-M, said.
'SOS Recycle will attempt to make Shaastra a zero waste festival,' he told reporters. Captains of industry would deliver talks, he said adding video conferencing sessions had been scheduled with speakers from Pakistan.
The principal event would involve designing a Shaastra Car, which is purported to serve as a car and bike.
