Tamil Medium Engineering courses were started in 2010. It was promised by the then government promised bright jobs for the qualified students including government sectors.
But, now the 1st batch of Tamil Medium Engineering students have come out, but with lot of worries and waiting for placement. The placement began in August 1st week and will continue till next month. More than 10 companies have visited the campus and recruited over 2000 engineering students, only two of the 120 got the job.
The testing procedures of the companies inclined towards fluency and efficiency of the English knowledge of the students only. Communication skill in expected in IT industry. Many of the students face problems with the Aptitude tests that include verbal abilities and comprehensions.
Anna University was the first Institution in India to introduce Tamil as a medium of Instruction in Civil and Mechanical Engineering courses. The course were started in Government Engineering College of Ariyaloor, Ramanathapuram, Thirukuvalai, Panruti, Pathukottai, Dindugal, Nagercoil, Thoothukudi, Arani and Trichy. The Tamil Medium students are really from rural and poor background. They studied by availing loan only.
