The Central Revenue Department has made it clear that the schools and colleges, need not to pay service tax on auxiliary services like transportation, extracurricular activities, canteen and hostels. The communications are sent to Central Excise and Service tax department.
J.M. Kennedy, director of the tax resentment of the revenue department wrote to excise department clarifying, auxiliary educational services provided to an educational, Institutions are exempted from service tax Hostels, housekeeping, security and canteen service also exempted.
