Kanpur: In what could be counted as yet another achievement for it, Chandra Shekhar Azad (CSA) University of Agriculture and Technology has bagged a prestigious project wherein the agricultural university would be developing the seeds for potato, onion and garlic. For this, the CSA has received a grant of Rs 1 crore.
Meanwhile, the Board of Management (BoM) of CSA has also given the final nod for three related projects. The seed production work under All India Coordinated Research Project on Potato, has been given to CSA, which until now was supposed to be done at Midnapur. Under such a project, 75 per cent of the amount of the project is funded by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the rest 25 per cent is supported by the state government.
"The projects were discussed in the BoM meeting and it gave its consent for this. We are hopeful of getting the desired results," said the V-C, Dr G C Tewari.
Under the project, the CSA would be making available quality seeds of potato and onion to the farmers and the state government. Similarly, the university has also got the project of All India Network The Economic Times Improvement of Onion and Garlic. The outlay budget for the above projects has been estimated to be Rs 46 lakh and Rs 45,000 respectively.
In addition to these projects, BoM has approved the All India Coordinated Research on Micro and Secondary Nutrient Elements in Soils and Plants, which is estimated to have a budget of Rs 25 lakh. A similar project on Soyabean has also been given to CSA.
