Public Private partnership Model for Education (PPP)

A meeting was organized by the Human Rights Advocacy and Reserch Foundation (HRP) and RTE Forum Tamil Nadu.  The activists and educationists said they were not for the current multi-large schooling system in India.  There are schools catering to various sectors, of society.  Union HRD Ministry has proposed the setting up of model school, under this system through PPP models .  According to the activitists and Educationist this system needed to be done away with and called for a state forded common schooling system and implementation of the Right of Children to Free and compulsory Education Act 2009.

V. Vasanthi Devi, former Vice Chancellor Manonmanium Sundaranar University said Universal Education was achievable only through a common schooling system and that the PPP model will be the lead to the model schools going to private hands.

Ossie Fernandus, Director HRF said, they had passed resolutions demanding that the PPP model be abolished, the RTE Act be strictly followed in unaided schools and be monitored by an independent body.  He added that common statement will be signed by the delegates and handed over to the state and central governments.
