RoopalBakshi, a student of Central University of Jharkhand, who is pursuing a five-year integrated course in English became the only candidate from the country to have undergone a summer programme under Academy of Korean Studies of South Korea.
Roopal, who studies Korea as an additional paper was among the 31 candidates who were selected from across the globe to attend the summer programme. The programme was organized to spread Korean studies all over the world. Students from across the world in the age group of 18-25, who are pursuing studies in Korean language adding the programme is free of any charges.
On her return after attending the programme Roopal said, "The month long programme was very hectic as students were to attend classes to learn history, tradition and culture, economy and philosophy of Korea along with language." She added that the people there were very helpful and the place was safe for women as well.
Professor B P Sinha, the dean of Language at CUJ, said, "Roopal is a talented student of English. She writes poetry, and is interested in making short video films. I encouraged her to learn Korean language as an additional language and I am happy that she was the only in the country to have been selected for the programme."
