GATE 2014 will have a new paper "Ecology and Evolution" with all the 22 papers taken up will be conducted through an online Computer Based Test (CBT)., taking the total number of papers in GATE to a total of 22.
With all the 22 papers to be taken up through an online Computer Based Test (CBT), the GATE 2014 will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur.
Alike last year, GATE 2014 also will have both multiple choice questions (MCQs) and numerical answer type questions. For numerical answer type questions, the candidates need to enter a number as the answer using a virtual keypad.
The online application for GATE 2014 opens on 1 September.
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an entrance examination and scholarship test held by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore.
The GATE 2014 examination will identify candidates for admission to postgraduate programs in engineering, technology, architecture, science and related disciplines at the national level.
Based on GATE scores, candidates may take admission into postgraduate engineering and sciences programs.
The score may also be valid for admission to doctoral degree programs. Some public sector undertakings (PSUs) accept GATE scores for screening potential salaried employees.
