Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), deemed-to-be university, Mumbai, has set up a centre for manufacturing excellence in collaboration with Warwick University. This initiative is going to prove a valuable contributor in national growth particularly in the scenario of decline in manufacturing sector and countries like China taking over.
RajanSaxena, vice-chancellor, NMIMS University said, "India can strengthen its competitive position in the world economy only when all three engines of economy, namely manufacturing, agriculture and services are boosted and they work in tandem. Innovation and excellence in all the three and particularly in manufacturing is the need of hour."
In order to fill the gap, NMIMS has set up the centre for manufacturing excellence which will offer specially designed Master's and doctoral programs. The centre will also enter into partnerships with some of the leading manufacturing corporate. The objectives of the centre is to educate and train engineers, managers and leaders in manufacturing as well as to carry out research in manufacturing excellence and to develop leadership in the sector.
The programs of the centre are being designed and will start shortly. The centre will be powered with the faculty of NMIMS University's School of Business Management and Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering, who will work along with faculty of Warwick University, UK to deliver the programs and carry out research and consultancy.
