The higher education department, in association with Bombay Stock Exchange, has started certificate, undergraduate and postgraduate diploma courses in capital markets and financial services.

The courses will be conducted in government colleges of all state universities from this academic year itself.

"Karnataka has seen a spurt in demand for students opting for commerce and finance streams right from the undergraduate level. Keeping in mind the specialized nature of the work and the rapid change in the industry, there is a need to design courses that are contemporary," said the higher education department.

The curriculum will be shared with universities and colleges by the end of this month.

The courses are: BCom Capital Markets; PG diploma in banking and finance; PG certificate in banking operations; PG programme in financial application; certified financial market associate.

The last date for admission to UG courses, including transfer from college to college and other universities, has been extended till August 19 with a fine of Rs 350.

Results of the vacancy round seat allotment have been put up on Karnataka Examination Authority website kea.kar.nic.in. Candidates who have been allotted seats in this round should report to the allotted colleges before 5.30pm on Wednesday.
