Hartcourt Butler Technological Institute administration on Tuesday organized an orientation programme for the new students. These students have taken admission in BTech course and would be staying on the campus for four years. The orientation programme was attended by students and their parents. HBTI director Prof JSPRai, heads of various departments, deans and senior faculty members too participated in the event and introduced themselves.
They also addressed the students before taking them on a tour of the campus. Director Prof JSP Rai said that the orientation programme was meant to welcome new students. The students were told about the do's and dont's during their stay on the campus. "The campus is ragging free. Students have been provided with helpline numbers. Seniors have warned against ragging," said Prof Rai. He also said that the head of departments addressed the students and told them about facilities in various departments. They also briefed students about the laboratory facilities and advised them to study sincerely. The students were also apprised of institute's past glory. They were told that IIT-Kanpur was born on HBTI campus and students of that period used to study in the institute. The students were asked to maintain discipline on the campus.
Prof Rai also said that students were detailed about sports facilities, yoga club, photography events to name a few. "They were prompted to choose an extra curriculum activity to keep themselves fit and entertained to end fatigue. A lot of activities are held on the campus and students were told to participate in it", said HBTI director.
HBTI director said that only 5% of the 660 new entrants failed to report to the campus. "The rest have participated in the orientation programme," he added. He added that a fresher party would soon be organized for the new students.
