Six-education institutions to get water through agreement

Tirupur: As per the agreement, the New Tirupur Area Development Corporation Limited (NTADCL) would supply treated water to the six educational institutions.

The formal MoU was signed between the New Tirupur Area Development Corporation Limited (NTADCL) and the six educational institutions here on Wednesday to supply treated water produced under the Tirupur Water Supply and Sanitation Project (TWSSP).

NTADCL Chief Operating Officer S. Shankar was present at the time of signing the MoU.

NTADCL managing director K. Dhanavel told that five million litres of water a day(mld) would be supplied to the six educational institutions, all in Sulur taluk in Coimbatore.

'This is the first time NTADCL is going to supply its treated water to educational institutions,' Mr. Dhanavel said.

The NTADCL will regularly provide 1.5 million litres a day to Park College of Engineering and Technology, one mld each to Tamil Nadu College of Engineering and the Park College of Technology, 0.75 mld to the Park Global School, 0.5 mld to the Nanjappa Polytechnic College and 0.25 mld to the Arulmighu Chandigeswarar Polytechnic College.

Once pipelines to a length of 20 km are laid, the supply is expected to begin.

Mr. Dhanavel said NTADCL would impose water charges from the six institutions at the rate of Rs. 55 a kilo litre (1,000 litres) of water consumed.
