New exam pattern for Medical What happen?
Madras High Court again quashed the Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University’s new pattern of examination. Which work beyond the minimum qualifying procedure laid by the MCI.
The first bench under acting chief Justice R.K.Agarwal and Justice M. Sathyanarayana, permitting a big set of petition from students who were declard failed because of new pattern of exams, saw the new guidelines and the chase of pattern by the university were in consider with MCI norms.
As per regulation 12 of MCI Regulation in Graduate Medical Education, 1997 a candidate must score 50% in aggregate in each subject. With minimum of 50% in theory, including vivavoce and 50% in practical / clinical.
In 2009 – 2010 the university introduced a different mode of mark distribution, according to which the practical / clinical examination in a paper was divided into 2 separate branch clinical surgery and ortho clinical.
Though as per MCI Regulation total marks for practical / clinical was 100, the university fixed marks for practicals 150 and classified into two categories.
While a student meet get 50 marks in clinical surgery which carried 100 marks he get at least 25 marks in ortho clinical which carries a maximum of 50 marks
