TN government encourages sports in schools

Tamil Nadu Government's Education department has suggested to schools to conduct annual Sports Day and recognise sports talents of the students by providing them certificates to those winning in competitions.

According to the Education Department officials here, with the introduction of three educational term pattern for class IX students this year, the physical education directors had been asked to give more importance to the sports.

The sports teachers should prepare an action plan to coach sports and implement them.

As sports had been added as the sixth subject, continuous assessment and comprehensive assessment of the students in sports activities also should be assessed.

The students should be segregated according to their interest,and adequate infrastructure should be made to promote

The assessment in sports should be made in all the three terms and final sports competitions should also be held, the officials said quoting a government order here.
