Number of schools offering Cambridge qualifications in India has risen significantly over the past year.
Cambridge IGCSE, the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds, is taught by over 3700 schools in 140 countries worldwide. Cambridge International AS and A Level, typically for learners aged 16 to 19 years, is taken by over 1600 schools in over 125 countries.
Schools in India made over 44,000 exam entries for Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International AS and A Level, a rise of 15 per cent since 2012. According to a recent data collection, there are now more than 310 Cambridge schools in India, and over 9000 schools in 160 countries that make up the Cambridge learning community worldwide.
In Tamil Nadu, 34 schools are now taking up Cambridge qualifications. Schools in this region made over 2,500 exam entries for Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International As and A Levels, a rise of over 10% since 2012.
CPS Global School, Arsha Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School and The Lords' International School are a few schools from Chennai that offer Cambridge qualifications.
The core subjects most popular among learners in India at Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International AS and A Level are physics, maths and chemistry.
