Government of India increased the fee for Indian Institute of Technology. Students revealed that the hike is 80 percent for undergraduate courses and almost double for Post Graduate Courses from this year. According to the students, that this may be an attempt to convert 16 IIT's self financed which may make impossible for poor student to get into IIT's UG tuition fees is raised for Rs.50,000/- to Rs.90,000/- per annum. Fees for gymkhana examination and medical facilities also gone up. IIT - Madras students have decided to show their protest for this issue.
