Haryana government issued directions for constituting a committee headed by vice-chancellor of Kurukshetra University, to bring further improvements in higher education system of the state.
The committee, which will be headed by vice-chancellor Lt Gen (Retd) D D S Sandhu, would also explore possibilities of increasing teaching days and streamlining the examination system of higher education as per guidelines of the University Grants Commission, an official release said.
However, the semester system in higher education will continue in the state, it said.
Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, while presiding over a meeting of the State Higher Education Council here, directed the committee to submit its report within a month.
The Committee would continue to review and monitor the entire process even after submission of the report and would also explore possibilities of affiliation of technical colleges with technical universities in the state, the release said.
It was decided that a Centre of Excellence of Science and Commerce would be set up under public-private-partnership mode at Gurgaon and Hooda directed to constitute one more committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary for inviting expression of interest for this purpose.
Principal Secretary Higher Education would be convener of this committee.
The Chief Minister also directed to ensure installation of CCTV cameras in universities.
