College fees of the top rank holders in this year's CET to be reimbursed by the Karnataka Examination Authority

The college fees of the top tank rank holders in this year's CET, will be reimbursed by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), minister for higher education RV Deshpande said.

Announcing the CET results for 2013, he said the entire five years college fee of the top ten rank holders, five each from the PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) streams will be reimbursed by the KEA as an impetus to the meritorious students.

This will be irrespective of the college the students choose, be it government or private, Deshpande said.

In the PCB stream, Hemanth Amardeep Santhoo from National Public School, Indiranagar, Bangalore topped the list with 95.556 per cent closely followed by Medha Narayan Rao of Expert PU College Mangalore, who scored 93.889 per cent.

The students who secured the third, fourth and fifth rank in this stream are: Vivek B Maleyur (92.222 per cent) from Vidhyaashram PU College, Mysore, Sachin Krishna Raj K (90.556 per cent) from Canara PU College Mangalore and Sheetal S N (90 per cent) SRS PU College, Pillekeranahally, Chitradurga.

The students who secured the first five ranks in the PCM stream are: Prajwal K A (98.056 per cent) from Vidya Vardhaka Sangha, Sardar Patel PU College, Bangalore, Sucheth S Kuncham (97.556 per cent) and Manu S H (96.722 per cent), both from the same college, Sahan S Alva (96.667 per cent) from Expert PU College Mangalore and Abhishek K D (96.445 per cent) from Sri Venkateshwara PU College Hassan.

The CET this year was held on May 1 and May 2 across 288 centres in Karnataka. The number of candidates who applied was 139260, out of which 137560 candidates appeared for the test.

Assessment of performance was done based on the revised key answers (prepared by subject experts) hosted on the KEA website http://kea.kar.nic.in.
