Residential hostel cum coaching centre for students aspiring to appear in civil services examinations

Kashmir University is planning to set up a residential hostel cum coaching centre for students aspiring to crack the prestigious civil services examinations at the national level.

Vice Chancellor of University of Kashmir Prof Talat Ahmad said at a seminar organised by Centre for Career Planning and Counselling (CCPC) for the civil services aspirants here that "(Union) Ministry of Human Resource and Development has approved a residential coaching centre for the civil service aspirants of the state, which will be coming up soon, here in the university."

The seminar was attended by hundreds of students from the varsity aspiring to crack the prestigious exam.

Inspector General Police (Kashmir) Abdul Gani Mir, who is already involved in guiding the aspiring candidates from Kashmir, was the chief guest.

The Vice Chancellor said Kashmir University is also planning to invite some top civil service officials and others to the university in near future to aspire and motivate student of this university to go for this prestigious exam.

"Even Chancellor of University of Kashmir and Governor of the state N N Vohra has desired to spend time with the students," Prof Ahmad said.

While lauding the CCPC, he said the center is running with a goal to inspire more and more people for civil services and urged the students to take advantage of all the available facilities in the university to prepare themselves for this exam.

"Students of this state have all the abilities to crack this exam, all they need to do is to channelize themselves and take advantage of university facilities to make their careers prosperous," Prof Ahmad said.

Addressing the students, Mir gave a compressive overview of civil service as a career option.

He suggested that awareness should be generated among the educated youth about the various career options so that they can realise their career potential by exposing themselves to career planning and decision-making.

"This will help them to prepare for various opportunities lying ahead of them," he added.

Mir urged students to do "systematic" hard work to realise their civil service dreams.

Following the success of several candidates in the UPSC examination over the past three years, which saw Shah Faesal become the first person from Jammu and Kashmir to top the coveted examination, the youth have shown more interest in taking a shot at becoming an IAS or IPS officer.
