City based Guruvayurappan Institute of Management has received the prestigeous 'Arch of Europe' award for quality and technology in gold category.
This International Quality award was given to GIM for the quality, excellence, Innovation and Technology at a recent function held at Frankfurt, Germany, thus becoming the first eductaional Institutions in India to get this coveted award, GIM director, Dr Varghese Mathews told reporters here.
In order to transmit quality culture, the Business Initiative Directions, an International Organisation based in Spain, gives the award to companies and organisations around the world, which proved excellence and innovation by implementing quality systems, he said.
GIM has joined the select group of TQM QC100 Organisatiaons and entitled to recommend other organisations for the award, with voting rights, he said.
Previous recipients of the award from India include Tata Group, Reliance Industreies, Indian Oil Corporation, NTPC and HAL, Bangalore, Varghese said.
