Lauding the role of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, HRD Minister M M Pallam Raju said from a humble beginning of 20 schools in 1963, the KVS today has 1093 schools in its fold.
This remarkable successful journey of 50 years has led to the celebration of golden jubilee, he said, inaugurating the new buildings of Kendriya Vidyalaya at a cost of Rs 9.68 crore on Gandhigram University campus in Dindigul district.
"We believe that the essence and role of education as articulated in the National policy on education, 1986/92 continues to be relevant even 27 years after its formation," he said during the golden jubilee celebrations.
The minister also highlighted the increasing use of ICT enabled facilities in classrooms.
He also inaugurated three University buildings.
