Kannur University's new vice-chancellor Khader Mangad has said that he will immediately make all efforts to get the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to the university within six months.
"As part of the efforts to get NAAC accreditation, the university will take steps to appoint permanent teachers in the academic departments, and put pressure on the government in this regard," he said after assuming the charge in the university on Thursday. The vice chancellor also said the university will provide all support to the colleges affiliated to the university to get NAAC accreditation.
Though Kannur University is a prominent university in the state, it is far behind of other universities when it comes to development and this problem will be effectively addressed he said, and added that the university will develop all infrastructure facilities for serious researches, which is the aim of a university. The plan is to develop the university as a post doctoral research centre, said Khader Mangad.
Also, steps will be taken to speed up the work of the university's central library building in the Thavakkara campus in Kannur town.
Since more than 14000 degree certificates are pending to be distributed to the students, the university will take steps to distribute the same at the earliest, and for this purpose temporary staff will be appointed, he added.
Also, steps will be taken to connect all the campuses by a computer network and the computerization of the university under the e-governance project will be completed before December, said the vice-chancellor.
