To attract youngsters towards science education and research in tribal hinterland of Chhattisgarh, the state government has decided to establish two science centres, each in Bastar and Sarguja districts.
The centres will enable the student to have better understanding of science-based concepts.
"Chhattisgarh Regional Science Centre Society associated with Science and Technology Department, has sent letters to Collectors of both the districts, requesting allotment of land to establish two science centres there," officials said.
Each of the centres will come up in five acres with the estimated cost of Rs 4 crores, they said.
Chief Minister Raman Singh had already announced the establishment of science centres in Ambikapur (Sarguja) and Jagdalpur (Bastar), during budget session and fulfilling his promise the step has been taken in this direction, they added.
These Science centres will have separate rooms, where various science models will be put on display.
A gallery at the science centre will be developed with indigenous techniques that will highlight the environment,forest, natural resources, energy and local resources as wellas their importance and utility.
Other than the audio-visuals, practical models will also be facilitated for demonstration so that visiting students have better understanding of the science-based concepts.
Government has also the plans to deploy other programmes like seminar, lectures, libraries, science centres etc so as to widely promote the awareness towards science among students as well as general public, officials added.
