Tele-presence facility provided by Cisco helps BITS Pilani connect all its campuses

BITS-Pilani now has all its campuses connected thanks to the tele-presence facility provided by Cisco as a part of a cross-campus technology initiative named BITSConnect 2.0.

Cisco on Monday announced the successful deployment of Cisco tele-presence, video conferencing and Cisco Web-ex. BITS Pilani is now offering 14 specialized electives to hundreds of students across its three campuses.

Faculty shortage in higher degree courses and electives was a challenge across campuses, making it difficult to launch electives in all four campuses-- Pilani, Dubai, Goa and Hyderabad. BITS was also challenged with regards to campus placements as the same company had to visit multiple campuses.

Cisco's collaboration has now helped BITS to facilitate knowledge transfer more efficiently.
