Chennai: Due to the economic slowdown and expensive fees the number of Indian students going to US for higher education this year has come down significantly, Mr Andrew T. Simkin, US consul general in Chennai, said.
Speaking after inaugurating an additional block donated by PSBB Senior Secondary School, T. Nagar, to Sundaracholavaram Panchayat Union Middle School, Mr Simkin, without exposing any figures, said that the number of students going to USA for pursuing higher education had come down this year.
'Students are apprehensive that they might not get good jobs after completing their course in the US as there were lots of job cuts due to economic slowdown,' he said.
Mr Simkin also said partnership between India and the US in the education sector was growing stronger
