The school of life sciences, DAVV will organize lectures by eminent scientists on 19 and 20 March at school of computer science and IT auditorium, Takshshila campus. Dr Suresh Chand ,the head of school of life sciences said that the programme is under the 'Distinguished scientists lecture series' of the school.
On 19 March, the main speaker will be Prof Paramjit Khurana from University of Delhi South campus, New Delhi, Prof TR Sharma from IARI, New Delhi. Chief guest of the function will be Prof AK Tyagi, director, national institute of plant genomic research, New Delhi. On 20 March, Prof RK Kohli from Punjab University, Prof LC Rai from BHU will be the speakers. The nationally renowned scientists will cover the latest trends in the world of contemporary agriculture science. The vice chancellor Dr.DP Singh will preside over the function.
Dr P.Khurana has specialization (plant biotechnology, molecular biology). She has made pioneering contribution in the area of 'Wheat and seribiotechnology' and 'comparative genomics'. Prof TR Sharma has specialization in plant biotechnology and disease resistance. He has contributed extensively to the improvement of rice for over 16 years. Prof .AK Tyagi has specialization in plant genomics and biotechnology. He has ventured to bring together knowledge of molecular physiology , genomics and transgenics to improve crop growth and yield.
