The second day of UP Board examinations witnessed much chaos on Wednesday as hundreds of students were barred from appearing for the exams for having multiple registrations. Invigilator crunch, as on Tuesday, adversely affected exam conduct and the board authorities remained a harried lot to manage the exams at various centers.
As many as 228 students of class X and XII missed the UP Board exam on day one while 49 missed the same on day two for having multiple registrations. These students created a ruckus at the office of District inspector Of Schools (DIoS) but even the senior official could not allow them to appear in the examination. "If multiple registrations are not allowed, why do the board authorities not check this before the examinations begin? This mismanagement ruined the life of hundreds of students," said Ansh, a class X student.
"The idea that taking exams from village would provide them with opportunity to cheat made many students have multiple registrations. At the end of the day, they got nothing as the board withheld both the registrations," said DIoS Komal Yadav. Yadav however said it was the moral responsibility of schools and parents to stop the students from doing the same.
Meanwhile, thousands of students also missed the exam by simple remaining absent. 6,073 students of class X did not turn up for the Hindi exam on day one while 4 remained absent in music exam on day two. Around 778 students of intermediate left the physics exam and 78 missed the business administration exam on day one. Ninety five students of class XII missed the home science exam and 3 missed the language exam on day two.
While no cheating cases were registered in the district on day two of the UP Board examination, sources said major invigilator crunch made many centers deploy one invigilator for two classes. At various schools, the teachers were not relieved even once throughout the day. Board officials are said to be more worried for Thursday when some examinations for 'important subjects' like commerce and physics are scheduled to be held. "We have managed some more invigilators from rural area who were not leaving their centers being as these were their hometown. On Thursday, some new teachers will be deployed at all the centers facing invigilator crunch," said DIoS Komal Yadav.
