Hyderabad: The MCA colleges reports with only 50 % of the seats filled and many students did not turn up for admission even after being allotted seats in the counselling.
This has forced the MCA colleges to urge the government to take over their management quota seats and fill them under convenor quota.
Of the total 16,000 students who were allotted seats in the counselling, only 12,000 students took admissions. Academics fear that several MCA colleges would head for closure this year due to poor response in the wake of slowdown in the IT sector.
Of the total 29,739 seats in over 550 MCA colleges, only 16,210 seats have been filled up in the first phase. The second phase is scheduled began from August 30.
