Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here said Medical Council of India (MCI) has accorded permanent recognition to it.
KIMS, a constituent of KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, has been offering MBBS course from 2007. A medical college becomes eligible for permanent recognition after completion of five years as per MCI rules and guidelines.
MCI had recommended permanent recognition for KIMS to Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare during last week of February after inspection by a high level MCI team, a release from KIIT University said.
The ministry was pleased to grant the permanent recognition acting on the recommendations and notification to this effect has been issued today, it said adding permanent recognition will provide a boost to the standing of this premier medical college of the country.
