Madras HC bench gives interim stay to the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff for PMT college

The Madras High Court bench gave interim stay to the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff for the PMT college, Usilampatti, admitting a petition by P V.Kathiravan, MLA and member of the Kallar Kalvi Kazhagam, the society which was managing the college.

The society was started with the objective of imparting education to the backward and most backward community people. The Petitioner has sought to appoint a retired High Court Judge as administrator for holding the election to the society for the term 2013-16.

Kathiravan, in his petition also prayed to the court to direct the officials, including the Inspector General of Registration and Director of Collegiate Education to conduct a detailed inspection and investigation into the funds managed by the society and take action against the society secretary and other office bearers if any fraud had been committed.

Charging that the present secretary of the society and the PMT college had "misappropriated college funds," as he was holding the post of both the Treasurer and Secretary, the petitioner said the Secretary had not filed audited balance sheet of the society.

As the term of the present Secretary would be over by May 14 and as the Managing Committee did not have enough members, it should not be allowed to fill the vacancies for both teaching and non-teaching staff for the college, he saod and sought to give interim stay to the recruitment of teachers and other staff by the college.

Justice K.K.Sasidharan gave interim stay to recruit of teachers and non-teaching staff to the college for three weeks and ordered notice to the Secretary and officials.
