Union Human Resource Development Minister M M Pallam Raju has been invited to lay the foundation stone of an NIT at Somari near Shrinagar in Pauri district of Uttarakhand.
The invitation to lay the foundation stone of the institute was extended to the Union Minister by Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna who met him in Delhi yesterday, officials said.
The state government has earmarked 300 acre land for the construction of the NIT at Somari.
Bahuguna said the Uttarakhand government had set up 15 new Polytechnics recently.
He requested the central minister to set up at least six community colleges in Uttarakhand.
He also demanded that Rs 66.81 crore be released by the Centre for teachers in the state under the 6th pay commission recommendations.
