Xavier Institute for Rural Management-Bhubaneswar (XIMB), one of the premier B-schools in the country, reported cent per cent placement of final year students this year in its flagship programme, Post-Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDRM).
About 50 organizations from various sectors, including livelihood and development, agribusiness, consultancy, finance, procurement and supply chain management, banking and financial services, came up with over 200 job offers for 101 students. Almost all the students were placed by the end of the second day of the placement week, according to a XIMB official.
Different rural development agencies of the governments of Bihar and Odisha hired almost 20 per cent of the whole batch. Organizations like, Jeevika (Bihar Rural Livelihood Programme), All India Disaster Mitigation Institute, Odisha Livelihood Mission- Tripti, NABARD Financial Services, FINO, IFMR centre for Micro-finance and Ujjivan were among the organizations that took part in the placement drive.
Companies dealing with agri-business, CSR, rural advertising, and rural banking recruited students in good number too, said placement coordinator Saveta Mohanty.
The average salary for the jobs offered stood at over Rs 6.5 lakh per annum, while the highest salary was Rs 9.5 lakh. This year 17 new companies participated in the placement drive.
Niraj Kumar, programme coordinator, said, "A large number of students this year preferred hard-core rural development sector reflecting their moral dedication in a major way. Getting jobs has never been a problem for XIMB students, but to get the job of their choice is what we are celebrating."
