CII and AoC India sign MOU to collaborate in healthcare and education areas

India and UK industry bodies signed two agreements to collaborate in healthcare and education areas aimed at improving these sectors in both the countries.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Association of Colleges, India (AoC India) have signed an agreement with the objective of establishing partnerships between UK FE Colleges and representatives of key Indian industries to facilitate best practices approach on education, training and skills development.

CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee said in a statement, "We welcome the MoU between CII and AoC India at such a historic moment during the visit of British Prime Minister David Cameron. This will further strengthen bilateral ties between India and UK and make way for more symbiotic relationships in the future."

Spokesperson from Association of Colleges in India said: "The UK Further Education sector's quality, experience and expertise make us ideally placed to help meet Indian industry's dynamic aspiration to develop a highly-skilled workforce."

"This agreement paves the way for further and closer working relationships that will see benefits not only for the economy but also the future growth of India's skills sector," he said.

Meanwhile, the Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC), promoted by CII and leading healthcare service providers in India and UK-based Skills-for-Health UK have signed another memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate and work together in the area of healthcare skills, the statement said.

The MoU was signed by Healthcare Sector Skill Council Chairman Naresh Trehan and Skills-for-Health (UK) CEO John Roger.

Both the organisations - HSSC (India) and Skills-for-Health (UK) - recognise that there is a huge scope for mutual cooperation and learning between India and the UK in skill development in allied healthcare and paramedic space.

In order to facilitate sharing of experiences, exchange of expertise and building linkages between UK and India in the area of healthcare skills, HSSC and Skills-for-Health have identified some areas to collaborate like development of occupational standards, e-learning, product development for improving the efficiency of healthcare in India, the statement said.
