Kerala State Co-operative Consumer Federation (Consumerfed), the apex body of consumer co-operatives in the state, is planning to set up an institute for retail management in Idukki district.
The proposed institute was aimed at augmenting manpower in the retail sector, a press release here said.
The Triveni Institute of Retail Management (TIRMA) would offer a six-month certificate course and one-year diploma course with 60 seats each.
The institute, to be set up at Cheruthoni in Idukki district, would ensure placements for students as supervisors and floor managers in around 3,000 Consumerfed retail outlets in the state.
Consumerfed was also planning to start MBA courses in retail management at a later stage, the release said.
