Disaster Management course
Being prepared for any disaster is the new agenda of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) as it has sent out circulars to all its affiliated schools to enroll students for a Disaster Management programme. The aim is to empower children by providing training to them on man-made or natural disasters. “Schools have become more proactive on this front, after the Mumbai attack,” said Rekha Sharma, Principal, Bal Bharati Public School, Rohini adding, “Though children may not be able to make use of awareness and training but there is no harm in being better prepared,” she added.
New TOEFL web experience
Educational Testing Services (ETS), creator of the TOEFL test, has launched a new TOEFL web experience at www.toeflgoanywhere.org that offers new tools, more test preparation, and step-by-step guidance to help students. Features include a search tool designed to help students find test centres and universities around the world that accept TOEFL scores; sample test questions; a downloadable “tips” guide; a timeline of what test takers need to do before test day; a useful step-by-step guide on how to register for the test and much more. ETS’s mission is to create an online resource that enables students to do their best on the TOEFL test, an important admission tool.
Kala Shristi Scholarships
Arena Animation announced the Kala Shristi Scholarships being offered at all Arena centers in Kolkata, Durgapur, Burdwan, Dhanbad, Guwahati and Siliguri. The scholarship is being made available for Arena’s latest and premier course offering, Animation Pro. The main objective of the scholarships is to give an opportunity to meritorious students who are keen to pursue a career in multimedia and animation. The scholarship is being offered to students based on two main criteria — the results of the last Board examination followed by an interview.
