Thousands of applicants who appeared in the Staff Service Commission (SSC) exam on Sunday were left in the lurch after the authorities concerned distributed the wrong paper thereby resulting in cancellation of the test. The test was to be held at 14 centres in the city in two shifts each of two hours.
On Sunday, the combined recruitment for grade three posts in Food Corporation of India (FCI) was cancelled following laxity on part of the invigilators. As per the information, the authorities distributed question booklets meant for second shift (paper III) of the exam in the first shift (paper II) prompting the Allahabad centre of SSC to announce the cancellation of the test. More than 6,000 aspirants who had cleared the preliminary test held in November were supposed to appear in the exam.
The cancellation notice put on the website read, "After the problems during distributing the question booklets at several centres, the commission cancels the test. The fresh date would be announced shortly."
Candidates said that they were first distributed the OMR answer sheet. And after few question booklets were distributed by the invigilators, it was brought to the notice that wrong paper was being given to the candidates. Additional district magistrate (executive) and nodal officer for conducting the test in Lucknow, DK Pandey said, "We have informed the senior officials as soon as we were apprised of the problem by the examination supervisor."
