Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has announced 100 per cent increase in scholarship to the students hailing from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward classes.
"Keeping in view the escalating prices of essential commodities, the Chief Minister has announced to double the scholarship for the 34 lakh students from SC, ST and OBC classes," a Government official said.
Expanding the Sanjeevani Kosh Yojna, under which poor families are provided financial assistance for medical treatment of serious ailments, the Government has added 17 more diseases to the existing list of 13, the official said.
Besides, Singh has announced to provide Rs 3 lakh assistance for kidney transplantation, while Rs 2 lakh will be given for treatment of serious brain injury, he said.
The monthly scholarship for students enrolled at Industrial Training Institute (ITIs) has also been increased from Rs 125 to Rs 300. The Government has removed the mandatory requirement of submitting BPL card or income certificate for getting the scholarship, the official said.
The Government has also increased the honorarium being given to Anganwadi workers to Rs 4,000 per month, while Angawadi Assistants will get Rs 2,000.
