Mohan Bhagwat stresses on the need to improve the education system in the country

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat stressed on the need of improving the education system in the country so that the children were taught to be fearless and model citizens. Bhagwat who was the chief guest was speaking at the golden jubilee celebrations of the Vivekanand Education Society at Chembur on Monday.
Criticising the current education system wherein the stress was laid on English education Bhagwat said that children learnt how to get jobs and make money but education was not about that. He said that the educated person should be able help others and not be self-centric.
Citing the examples of Swami Vivekanand, Mahatma Gandhi, Lokmanya Tilak and Veer Savarkar, Bhagwat said that these personalities understood the need for such an education and became role models in implementing it.
“Education should prepare the children to fight against odds. It is disturbing to see children committing suicide after failing in HSC exams. Students should be trained to confront failure. Situations are always difficult for those who are cowards, but Swami Vivekanand said that one should become fearless and face difficulties,” said Mr Bhagwat.
“They listen to what you teach and learn what they see,” said Mr Bhagwat referring to the children today, adding, “There are so many schools and colleges in the country but none of them teach to rob or steal, but when one goes to the rural areas you do not find doctors and engineers but you do find petty thieves and robbers.”
