The public lecture series initiated by National Knowledge Network (NKN) and launched on Wednesday at Delhi University, linked top 500 institutions of higher learning in the country through a one-way link. DU administration said over two lakh people attended the inaugural lecture.
Also, 11 institutions across India were linked through a two-way interactive mode with 1,200-strong audience present at the Viceregal Lodge, DU, to hear adviser to the PM, Sam Pitroda, and professor Michael Sandel of Harvard University speak.
While vice chancellor Dinesh Singh introduced the lectures and emphasized how the NKN "provides a huge potential for sharing knowledge and learning resources and can knit the country together," Pitroda and Sandel spoke on the topic "Democratising information, justice, equality and the rule of law."
