Education facilitates to live and lead a life

Coimbatore: Lifestyle in the modern times has undermined the role of education and limited its capacity to employability.

However, it should be perceived as a process to empower the learner with capacities to cope with unknown circumstances, T. Ramasami, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, said here recently.

Speaking at the graduation day of Kongunadu Arts and Science College, he said education was expected to help us both in living and leading a life.

As against modern living, our ancient civilisation has defined the role of education as a process which reveals the perfection of a human being. It believed that a human being is born perfect, but does not know of his or her perfection.

Our traditional system of education differentiated learning, knowledge and wisdom, Mr. Ramasami said.

He hoped that India, as an emerging economy, and the Indian youth with sharp intellect and expertise, could play a major role in the development process.
