After the Masters programme in mathematics education , a joint-degree programme initiated by Delhi University (DU) and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University, under the Meta university concept has commenced; The next project in the pipeline is public health.
The programme is expected to start in July 2013 in the new session . Jamia will be initiating the project in public health, in which all the four Meta universities, including Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Delhi, will be participating. "It will be a two-year (four-semester ) Masters degree programme. We will be organising a meeting to discuss the structure of the course this month," says SM Sajid, registrar, JMI.
The course will be designed in a manner that students can be located at each institution for a semester, while faculty will be on the move. "The programme will be an inter-disciplinary programme, which will have elements from various disciplines," informs Sajid.
