Show cause notice to Bangalore university on errant BEd colleges

In an effort to curb errant BEd colleges under Bangalore University (BU), the Karnataka government has sent a show-cause notice to the varsity.

In a letter by Prakashrao Kesarkar, under-secretary of higher education, the varsity has been questioned on the Syndicate decision of December 12, 2012. The government asked for a clarification within seven days.

At that meeting, the Syndicate decided to go ahead with the Local Inquiry Committee ( LIC) report and also gave colleges with irregularities three months to fix the problem. This decision was contrary to the report submitted by the BU task force which recommended immediate disaffiliation of errant colleges.

The government in its notice expressed its desire to implement the interim report of the task force on BEd colleges in full.
