Executive Council of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University approves the five-year Integrated LLB

The Executive Council of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University has approved the five-year Integrated LLB (Bachelor of Law) course to be run on the university campus from academic session 2013-14 on semester basis. The important meeting of the Academic Council was held on the university premises on Thursday headed by Vice Chancellor Ashok Kumar. Permission from Chancellor, Governor of the state, will be sought for the LLB course. Thereafter, recognition for the course will be taken from Bar Council of India, informed Kumar addressing media persons at a press conference at the university.

Students after completing their class XII will be eligible for taking admission to the LLB course through an entrance exam. The fees of LLB course is yet to be decided by the university administration.

During the meeting it was also decided that students willing to pursue PhD course will be first required to enroll for a six months semester course. The six months will be training period for those interested in PhD.

The students will first have to appear in two exams and score minimum of 50% marks in each exam. Each paper would be of 100 marks. The first paper would be of Research Methodology, Objective Hypothesis and thesis writing. This course will consist of topics like foundation research, type and method of research, review of literature and problem definition, planning of research and report writing. Second paper would be of computer application and quantitative technique.

Based on the performance in six months and marks attained, registration of students will be done for the doctorate course. University authorities also decided that students should have at least 75% attendance in the classroom during the six months long semester. If this criterion is not met, they will not be given admission to the PhD course.

The university's stand behind this step is to ensure that only well meaning students get admission.
