The young members of the Rotaract Mumbai celebrated the World Responsible Youth Day on January 1 this year. Celebrated on the first Sunday of every year, the day commemorates responsibility the youth must imbibe. Keeping in spirit with this year’s theme—education—Rotaract clubs across the city have been conducting activities through the week.
A road rally has been organised on January 5 in the areas of Thane, Dombivali, Kalyan,Vashi and Ghatkopar. Another mega rally and road show will be conducted through these areas to inform the masses about the importance of education through performances/ street plays. This awareness campaign will be supported by eminent personalities in the field of education and various celebrities.
The event will then move towards the areas of Bandra and Marine Drive on January 6. Celebrities like Tanaaz Irani, Shania NC, Muskaan Mihani along with other people participate in the run at Carter Road in Bandra to support the cause of education. This will be followed by a street play at Marine Drive, concluding the Day.
Naseem Kanchwala, District Rotaract representative, said, “Today’s youth has the passion and determination to take the responsibility to bring change and make the world a better place to live. Rotaract represents the same responsible youth. Being the world’s largest youth movement, we have undertaken various causes, and this year we focus on education.”
“Around 2,500 rotaractors across the city have been motivating the youth to step up and contribute towards the cause of education of underprivileged by contributing time or monetary support,” he adds.
