Teacher aspirant moves HC seeking to quash the clause to score 60 per cent in TET eligibility test

Madurai Bench of Madras High Court ordered notice to the Teachers' Recruitment Board and the Education Secretary on a petition filed by a  teacher aspirant seeking to quash the Clause that a person should score 60 per cent in the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test.
 
R.Anusuya of Tirunelveli District, a Scheduled Caste, said the National Council for Teacher Education itself had recommended that SC/ST,OBC and differently-abled persons could be given concessions in marks in the TET in accordance with their reservation policy.
 
States including Assam, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, had given relaxation upto five per cent and had fixed the minium pass mark for SC/ST candidates at 55 per cent. However Tamil Nadu Government had not given any such concession and had fixed 60 per cent for all the candidates.
 
She also said two of the questions, for the examinations held on Oct 14, did not have key answers and 30 questions were out of syllabus and sought their quashing.
 
She sought a direction to the respondents to give five per cent relaxation for SC candidates in appointment of BT Assistant teachers. Justice V.Ramasubramanian ordered issue notice and posted the case after three weeks.
