Around 7,000 students likely to participate in third Indian Student Parliament in Pune

The third Indian Student Parliament will be held in Pune next month with around 7,000 students likely to converge for the event.

Maharashtra Institute of Technology - School of Government (MIT-SOG) in Pune will host a three-day Indian Student Parliament or 'Bhartiya Chhatra Sansad' from January 10 to 12 in which eminent speakers, the organisers said.
   
The sessions, issues like corruption, politics, world affairs would be discussed. Each session of the student's programme will be chaired by a Member of Legislative Assembly and will be opened by a Vice Chancellor of a University.
   
 Rahul Karad, Convener of Bhartiya Chhatra Sansad said, "The first student parliament missed out the students from Jammu and Kashmir and North-East, however on an initiative by the Union Ministry of Youth affairs the second parliament saw students participants from the region."
   
The resolution passed in the student parliament is presented to Parliament of India, he added. The speakers include Mark Tully, Abhay Firoda, the Dalai Lama, D Y Patil, Nancy Jo Powell, BJP Chief Nitin Gadkari, Irina Bokova, Ramoji Rao, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, Rajiv Bajaj, activist Binayak Sen, Bangladesh's  Muhammad Yunus, CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kuamar, Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav, Jitendra Singh and Maharastra CM Prithviraj Chavan and other film and sports personalities.
   
The Programme will be telecast live on Rajya Sabha Television. It would  also be viewed real time by interested universities through A-VIEW (Amrita Virtual Interactive E-Learning World), an indegenously-built multi-platform interactive software supported by Ministry of Human Resource and Development.
